Principal's Message

Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year!  We are excited to provide a top-notch educational experience for all students as we embrace the many challenges provided by the Covid-19 Pandemic.  We are committed to providing a safe, rigorous, and meaningful experience for all students.  We are committed to the district three-level plan that includes Distance Learning, Hybrid schedule, and 100% traditional.  The goal and commitment by the Costa Mesa high school staff is to maintain the level of excellence, personal connection, and rigor regardless of the learning environment.

This year marks my 24th year in education; 14-years as a mathematics teacher/football coach and 10-years in school administration.  I have an Ed.D. in educational leadership, MA in School Administration, a BA in Mathematics, and am certified to teach mathematics and special education.

As a school leader, I embrace many leadership styles, but always approach situations as a servant and transformational leader.   I am committed to the students, parents, and community of Costa Mesa to provide a shared vision that creates meaningful opportunities for ALL students and prepares them for a college and career of their choice.   My educational philosophy is deeply rooted in meaningful connections with students, quality teaching practices, community support, and providing support for students and staff to ensure success.  I believe in educating students of the mind, body, and heart.

I appreciate the support from the leadership of the Newport Mesa Unified School District and the school board vision ensuring we have meaningful curriculum and opportunities.  I am excited for the 2020-2021 school year, the great academic challenges, shared experiences of athletics, drama, band, and the many other activities.   Together, we will make this a fantastic school year.
