Principal's Message
Costa Mesa Middle and High School welcomes our new principal:

With more than 20 years of experience in secondary education, Mr. Jeff Giles brings a strong track record of leadership, instructional excellence, and a deep commitment to student-centered learning. He joins NMUSD after serving as Principal of Esperanza High School in the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District, where he led remarkable academic improvement.
“We are excited to welcome Mr. Giles as he brings a strategic, student-centered approach to leadership that is grounded in a deep passion for student success. His extensive experience and collaborative style make him an exceptional fit to lead the combined 7-12 campus,” said Deputy Superintendent Dr. Kerrie Torres.
Throughout his career, Mr. Giles has served in a range of positions, including teacher, department chair, assistant principal, and principal. Most recently, he served as the Visual and Performing Arts Coordinator for Downey Unified School District. He has been a strong advocate for expanding access to Advanced Placement and Career Technical Education (CTE) programs, and has worked to support English Learner achievement through the development of A-G aligned course offerings.
“His experience in both academic and arts leadership reflects a future-ready vision that aligns with Costa Mesa’s diverse and vibrant school community,” said Dr. Torres.
Giles obtained his Bachelor of Science in Ecology and Systematic Biology from California Polytechnic State University, a Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Phoenix, and is currently pursuing his Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Concordia University, Irvine.
