ZAP Parent Letter

Costa Mesa Middle School staff believes that all students are capable of learning at high levels. Consistent with this belief, CMMS will launch a ZAP homework tutorial program. ZAP has been successfully implemented at numerous Orange County schools with dramatic results.    This program offers your child what they need; it is not a punishment. Furthermore, research has proven that students who consistently turn in their homework assignments get better grades and score higher on mandatory state tests.

At CMMS failure is not an option. Our expectation is that your student will complete and turn in his/her homework when assigned. Any day that your student’s homework is not turned in, he/she will be required to stay after school to complete the assignment. During that time they will get additional support and assistance from our CMMS teachers. Your student will be allowed to use the telephone to notify you that he/she will be remaining at school from 3:00-4:00pm. In addition, a notice will go home to you informing you what assignment was missed and why it was missed.

At Costa Mesa Middle School, we want all of our students to be successful learners and achieve their highest potential possible. We thank you in advance for your support and partnership in your student’s education. If we can assist you or your child in any way, please call your child’s teacher, counselor, or grade level administrator.
