WELCOME!

It is with great pleasure that I write to you as new principal of Costa Mesa High School! I am honored that the Newport Mesa Board of Education, Dr. Hubbard, and the Newport Mesa Unified School District Executive Cabinet have thought so highly of me that they offered me this position, and I look forward to sharing my vision with all the stakeholders of the Costa Mesa High School community. I’ve spent the spring and summer getting to know the rich traditions of excellence that exist among our faculty, sports programs, and co-curricular activities, and I look forward to helping out in any way I can to further sustain them.

In taking this new position I am excited to share my experiences as an educator with others, including 19 years of experience in roles as a principal, assistant principal, department chairperson, director of numerous educational programs, advanced placement, AVID and community college teacher, varsity coach, creator of innovative classes like the district’s Freshmen Seminar class, and grant writer.

My vision for education is consistent with the mission of Costa Mesa High School – to ensure that all students demonstrate high academic achievement and sustain successful post high school pursuits. I plan to accomplish this by continuing to maintain an ethical, nurturing and challenging learning environment. I have been spending much of my time asking questions and finding that there are many programs at Costa Mesa High School that are challenging students at the highest level of their abilities. I hope to continue to sustain them as principal.

This commitment to a challenging learning environment is evident in a focus to improve to improve student performance across all disciplines as well as in our unwavering support for co-curricular activities and athletics. I am also committed to boosting student learning through the development of professional learning communities, smaller learning communities and a collaborative environment for both teachers and students.

I’m excited about the support we will be receiving from the Newport Mesa Unified School District to achieve these goals. I have already had numerous conversations with district leaders about our vision and I am confident that the aspirations of every student and teacher at Costa Mesa will be taken into consideration as we enhance our existing programs and develop new ones for the future.

Thank you for your support of our students and our school community. As always, GO MUSTANGS!
