2. The City of Costa Mesa has an opportunity for student volunteers this Saturday, April 29th for Action Arts in the Park located at TeWinkle Park. The teens will be assisting with set up and tear down. They will be helping with the Teen Booth art activity where they will be creating a multiple piece mosaic on 8” X 8” Boards to create a 4’X4’ piece coming together to create the Costa Mesa Logo. We will not be accepting permission slips the day of the Event, the quicker teens turn in the forms the better. Turn your forms in at the CM Teen Center (Fireside Lounge near the cafeteria) if anyone is interested.

Each shift time is for two teen participants.

Shift Times

Shift 1: 7:30am-11:30am

Shift 2: 11:30am-3:00pm

4. Free Wheelchair Mission warmly welcomes Costa Mesa High School students to our 12th Annual Run for Mobility at the OC Marathon located at the OC Fair & Event Center in Costa Mesa! Join fellow volunteers from all over Orange County on Sunday,

May 7 at 5:15 am to 10:30 am for a morning of volunteering at our OC Marathon assigned marathon mile 14 water station as we provide water, nutrition, snacks and encouragement to runners and so much more! The day guarantees to be a blast for all ages as we step out to serve our running community, who are running for a good cause! Please visit our volunteer website for more information and contact Kim Caldwell, Events Manager at Free Wheelchair Mission to participate or (949) 273-8470 ext. 223. Here is an event video that we produced recently, it shows the excitement the event generates amongst our participants!

We also have volunteer opportunities available from 4pm-8pm on Saturday, May 6, 2017 at the OC Fair & Event Center charity booth to help us hand out flyers but our BIGGEST need is the marathon mile 14 water station located at Red Hill Ave. north of Airport Loop Drive intersection, so that is the focus I placed in the blurb above.

Here is a link to our story story which will give you a better idea of our impact across the globe. Here is a video narrated by Jim Carrey illustrating how life changing the gift of a wheelchair can be in the developing world.

5. Sonora Elementary Cinco de Mayo event will be held on Saturday, May 6th.  They need lots of student volunteers from 9 am – 4 pm. They need help with set-up, working in a game booth or in the nacho or beverage booth and with clean-up! Please sign up in the Community Service Office!
