Marching Band does an awesome job at the Disneyland 1/2 Marathon

The Marching Band met at 3:45am on Sunday, August 31st and loaded up the busses for the Disneyland 1/2 Marathon in Anaheim.  The group did an awesome job playing pep tunes and cheering for all of the racers.  The Disney representative had great things to say about our group's performance and spirit !  Special thanks to the alumni who came out and played with us, along with the parents who chaperoned, passed out water, hauled gear and cheered as well!  Great job everyone - Mickey would be proud !

This Week in Marching Band.....

MONDAY, Oct. 27th:   Monday night Marching Band Practice  begins @ 6:00pm - 8:30pm @ Jim Scott Stadium.

We are finishing our show so we can perform it at our last home football game Friday and the competition on Saturday.  EVERYONE MUST ATTEND !!!   BAND – WEAR YOUR WHITE FIELD SHOW T-SHIRT.  We seriously will NOT be competitive if we continue with all of the “holes” from missing people..  The Quarter ends soon and your grades will definitely be affected by missed rehearsals & events as we are a performance based class.

Reminder:  0 periods start @ 6:45am.  This week are as follows:

Band:  Monday, Thursday, Friday

Color Guard:  Wednesday (7:00am start), Thursday, Friday

FRIDAY, October 31st:  HOME FOOTBALL GAME vs. Saddleback H.S. & Senior Night

This is our last home game & we will be performing our field show at half time.  Yes, it is also Halloween.  Understand that I am not the person who makes the football schedule.  It is a required event on our schedule.

We will make our own fun!

(meet @ 5pm in black box theater - we need to leave to go over by 5:30pm.)

The game is at Jim Scott Stadium and we will perform our pregame show before the game and our field show at half time, so make sure you have all our music, equipment, etc.  Band - you will need a white T-shirt and black socks for Friday & Saturday, so please prepare ahead of time !

This is also Senior Night, but I have not gotten any information about it yet.  In the past Seniors and families met over at the stadium about 5pm for pictures.

SATURDAY, November 1st:   ORANGE COAST INVITATIONAL Marching Band Tournament @

Huntington Beach High School, hosted by Edison H.S.

Reminders:

Secret Buddies start today, so don’t forget yours !

3:15pm – leave for Huntington Beach H.S.

5:00pm – pre-stage

5:15pm – Peform !

6:30pm – Awards

7:30pm – Return to CMHS

Everyone needs to help unload and turn in their uniforms, making sure all items are in the bag (including

gloves!)  Please be responsible and do not make others do your work.

SUNDAY, November 2nd: We are going to see Pippin !  See Attachment – Form Due by Wednesday, Oct.29th

We are very excited to have tickets to the Broadway touring production of “Pippin”, the musical at the Pantages Theater in Hollywood.  Although the tour extends to Costa Mesa after Hollywood, this date was the perfect timing for us to get inspired for our own field show.  As it turns out the L.A. Cast is a bit different than the Costa Mesa Cast.  We are lucky to see the original Pippin who starred on Braodway as well as Berta, who won the Tony award for her performance.  It should be a great evening and then you will “get the day off” on Monday as it is teacher inservice day.

*YES, we will still have Monday night practice on November 3rd !

Times:

4;00pm – Meet @ CMHS “Band Room”.  Dress nicely please.  You may bring $ for refreshments or souvenirs.

4:30pm – Leave for the Pantages Theater

6:30pm – “Pippin”

10:00pm – arrive back to CMHS – have rides ready

Jazz Band – TBD – We still have to get ready for the Veteran’s Day performance on November 11th.
