CMHS Foundation Minutes

February 12, 2018


Call to order: 4:30pm


Roll Call:  Quorum was present, see sign-in sheet attached. 


Approval of minutes from January 8, 2018, Gary Bermudez moved to approve and Clare Warner seconded.  Motion carried.


Treasurer’s report: Attached.  VAPA and Sheldon Scholarships will be listed separate, Union Bank #2.  Maria Nickless moved to approve and Jana Sullivan seconded.  Motion carried.


Committee Reports:

  • Home Tour summary –The committee has not had their wrap up meeting, update will be provided at our next meeting. As of 1/31/18 the numbers were $16,776 income and $9820 expenses – CMHS Foundation Treasurer report.  
  • Legacy Tile project – Start advertising again on social media, School Loop and at the Spring Spot Light on 4/12/18.
  • Fall event  theme will be Oktoberfest on September 15, 2018


Old Business: 

  • 2018 Board of Directors – we received resignation letters from Mike Aguilar and Tim Taber.  Ian Delzer attended our meeting and has experience with non-profits and fundraiser.  He is interested in joining the CMHS Foundation Board of Directors.
  • Audit – a review will be done when the taxes have been completed
  • By Laws – Jen and Lisa will look over the original and draft then board will approve changes at March meeting.


New Business:

  • Fall 2018 Oktoberfest event – Moved by Debbie Krohnfeldt and seconded by Lisa Feinstein to have a Save The Date insert in the 2 Drama productions – Music Man and Bring it On giving $300 to Mesa Theater Booters.
  • Insurance needed for Directors and Officers, $1 million policy renewal is $1240.  Also need liability and a quote has been requested.
  • Grants will be due 4/30/18 and approved in June 2018.  Photos of grant in place due January 2019. If a grant is more than $200 CMHS Foundation will need a quote attached.  Moved by Debi Wanbaugh and seconded by Sharon Comer.  Motion carried.  Discussion – we will keep these dates for each year, due 4/30, approved June and photos due in January.


Public comments:  None

Principal’s comments:  Jake Haley shared how great a community we have – everyone come together when needed.  Teams that have advanced onto CIF Girls Water Polo, Boys Soccer, Boys Basketball, Solo Night is 2/15/18, Cheer placed 2nd and 5th in competition in Florida and Mock Trial has a team competing.  Looking forward at the Fall programs and registration.


City Advisor’s comments:  None

Board of Director’s comments:  Drama has a play “Bring it On” March 2-11.  Music strings program at Vanguard.  New group on campus – Nautical Dept, they will have a 16’ canoe that needs to be built then race at Lake Skinner May 17-19.  Solar Cup and Mesa Water District are sponsors and more are needed to purchase items to complete the canoe.  It was moved by Gary Bermudez and seconded by Jana Sullivan to sponsor Nautical Dept with $1000.  Motion carried.
